Summary of steps

The instructions below summarize the steps for setting up RSView32
as an OPC or DDE client.

1.

Start the OPC or DDE server.

2.

Start RSView32 and create or open a project (the client).

3.

In the Node editor, create nodes for each OPC or DDE server
and/or topic you wish to communicate with. In the node’s Data
Source field, select OPC Server or DDE Server.

For details, see “Creating an OPC node,” next, or “Creating a
DDE node” on page 3-12.

4.

In the Tag Database editor, create tags and select Device as the
data source and assign the nodes that you have created.

For details, see Chapter 4, Creating tags.

Creating an OPC node

An OPC node allows you to assign a logical name, server name, and
update rate for each OPC server you want to communicate with. The
OPC node name can then be used throughout RSView32.
