Setting up OPC and

DDE communications

OPC

®

and DDE connections allow you to communicate with a wide

range of local and remote devices.

OPC is OLE for Process Control, used to connect RSView32

to

communication devices via vendor-specific OPC servers. DDE is
Dynamic Data Exchange, used with external DDE servers such as
third–party servers, to connect RSView32 to communication devices.
RSView32 supports the OPC 1.0a and OPC 2.0 specifications.

OPC servers provide a way to connect an RSView32 station (the OPC
client) to:

communication devices, using RSLinx

®

as an OPC server
