4.4.3.4
ESSI Interface and Routing
The Extended SONDET/SDH Serial Interface (ESSI) working and protect links, are used to
provide equipment protection between two ARTM-831X within a system configuration.
Therefore the ESSI signals are routed through the Zone 3 connectors towards the front board.
The front board provides the ESSI signals through the Zone 2 connector Update Channel
towards a second ATCA-8310 node. For details, see Figure 4-1 Block Diagram in ATCA-8310
Installation and Use Manual.
4.4.4
E1/T1 Framer-LIU
Two octal-E1/T1 Framer-LIU combo devices provide a total of 16 E1/T1 base rate TDM
interfaces on the ARTM-831X assembly via one VHDCI connector. Each framer is connected to
the TSI FPGA using H-MVIP interface for payload transactions and local bus for control and
configuration. Additionally Monitoring/Alarm signals and recovered clocks are delivered also
to the TSI-FPGA.
