Transceiver
ARTM-831X uses one BCM54640 Quad 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver to
interface between the SGMII signals provided by the front board (via Zone 3 connector) and the
copper interfaces on the RTM face plate. The pin out of the RJ45 connectors is provided in Table
3: Ethernet Interfaces - RJ45 Connector Pin-out.

Ethernet LED's
One amber activity and one green link indicator LED per port is provided at the face plate. They
are connector integrated.

Management Interface
BCM54640 management registers are accessible through the MDIO and MDC serial interface.
The I/F is available via Zone 3 connector.

10G Ethernet Interface
4.2.3.1
Transceiver
The main function of the 10G Ethernet Transceiver BCM8707 is to interface between the
10GBASE-BX4 Ethernet (XAUI) coming from the front board and the 10GBASE-LRM Ethernet of
the SFP+ module located on the face plate of ARTM-831X. The BCM8707 comes in a 1mm
pitch, 256-pin FPGA package and provides the following features:
Meets or exceeds IEEE 802.3ae and IEEE 802.3aq
Supports SMF SFP+ module for up to 10km cable length
Supports MMF SFP+ module for up to 300m cable length
Supports SFP+ Direct Attach (SFP+Cu) copper cable assembly
