Monitoring a Cluster
ServerNet cluster monitoring tasks include:
•
Viewing alarms for resources in a ServerNet cluster.
This task is similar to viewing alarms for resources within a server, except that you must first
select the ServerNet Cluster in the tree pane and then navigate to the cluster resource you
want to view. See
•
Viewing attributes for resources in a ServerNet cluster.
This task is similar to viewing attributes for resources within a server. See
.
•
Checking for Incident Reports in the OSM Notification Director.
The
generates problem incident reports when critical changes occur
to a resource.
•
Checking the OSM Event Viewer for events.
The
displays events from EMS-formatted log files such as $0 and $ZLOG.
•
Checking the status of the ServerNet cluster subsystem ($ZZSCL).
Navigate to the ServerNet Cluster resource and check the value of the ServerNet Cluster State
attribute.
•
Monitoring the Expand-over-ServerNet lines.
Navigate to a Remote ServerNet Node resource and check the value of the Line LDEV State
attribute. This value indicates the state of the line between the local node and the selected
remote node. Repeat this action for all remote nodes in the cluster.
Performing Actions on Cluster Resources
Some of the actions you can perform on resources within a ServerNet cluster include:
•
Testing ServerNet cluster connectivity. Perform the
Node Connectivity ServerNet Path Test
for
the external ServerNet fabrics, the
for the 6780 switch node port, and
the
for the 6780 switch module.
•
Starting and stopping the ServerNet cluster subsystem ($ZZSCL). Perform the
action on the ServerNet Cluster resource.
•
Switching the primary and backup processors for
and
. Perform the
and
actions on the ServerNet
Cluster resource.
•
Setting LEDs on switch or switch components to blink so the resource can be easily located.
Perform the Blink LED action for 6780 switch components and the Blink All LEDs action for the
6780 switch module. For the ServerNet II switch component of the 6770 switch, perform the
Blink LED action.
•
Assigning a text string to help locate a cluster switch. See
Specifying a Cluster Switch Locator
•
Updating firmware, configuration, and FPGA code for the 6780 ServerNet switch. Perform
the
, and
actions on the switch logic
board component.
•
Updating firmware and configuration for the 6770 cluster switch. Perform the
and
actions on the ServerNet II switch component.
•
Replacing components of a cluster switch using the Replace Switch guided procedure. To
launch the guided procedure, navigate to the switch component and perform the Replace
action.
