Test Verify

Runs the power-on self-test for the disk and tests the internal circuitry of the drive.

Validate Checksum

Scans the user data area of a disk for sector checksum errors. If the action fails, the Action Details
dialog box reports a sector checksum and suggests that you spare the sector only if you believe
there is a drive media problem.

To find additional information, use the OSM Event Viewer. Retrieve events using $ZLOG as the
source criteria and RAL as the subsystem criteria, and look for Disk-sector-failure events (event
number 7001). In the event detail, a Sector-failure-count token shows how many sector checksum
errors were found, and a Disk-logical-sector token appears for each error, providing the logical
address of that failing sector.

You can perform the Validate Checksum action while the disk drive is in use. The action prompts
you to specify an optional process priority for the action. If not specified, the current default priority
is used.

Disk (CLIM-Attached)

Within the CLIM-Attached Disks object, the OSM Service Connection displays this Disk object as
a logical representation of each CLIM-attached SAS or FC disk. A physical representation of each
CLIM-attached SAS disk is displayed under the

SAS Disk Enclosure

object.

Location in OSM Tree: System > CLIM-Attached Disks > Disk

Attributes

Disk

Displayed in the Attributes tab and Attributes dialog box only if the value is
something other than OK.

Values

Service State

Logical

The path that is currently accessing the disk.
Values: Primary, Backup, Mirror, Mirror Backup

Active Path

The current state of the backup disk path.

Values

.

Backup Path State

Indicates whether the disk is a SAS disk, Fibre Channel (FC), or SSD (solid
state drive).

Disk Type

Displayed only if the system is licensed for NonStop Volume Level Encryption,
this attribute indicates whether or not the CLIM to which the SAS disk is
attached has NonStop Volume Level Encryption enabled.

Encryption State

The logical device number used by the operating system to identify the disk.
Example: 7

Logical Device Number

The total size (in kilobytes) of disk storage space.

Media Size

The number of the partition on a partitioned disk.

Partition Number

The location of the physical disk that is mapped to this logical disk.

Physical Location

The current state of the primary disk path.

Values

.

Primary Path State

A unique number that identifies the product.
