Configuring OSPF graceful restart timer
The OSPF graceful restart timer specifies the maximum amount of time an OSPF restarting router
will take to re-establish OSPF adjacencies and relearn OSPF routes. This value will be sent to the
neighboring routers in the grace LSA packets. Configure the timer by entering a command such as
the following.
BigIron RX(config-ospf-router)#graceful-restart restart-time 120
Syntax: graceful-restart restart-time <seconds>
Enter 10 – 1800 for seconds. The default is 120.
Displaying OSPF graceful restart information
Displaying if OSPF graceful restart is enabled
Use the show ip ospf data grace-link-state and the show ip ospf neighbor commands to display
information about OSPF graceful restart.
The following is an example of what the show ip ospf data grace-link-state command that is
displayed during a restart event. The output is blank if the report is requested while the OSPF
router is in normal operation.
The show ip ospf neighbor command displays the following information during normal operation.
The show ip ospf neighbor command displays the following information during a restart event on a
helper router. Note the "
appear once restart is complete.
