Breakaway
Routing multiple sources, on different levels, to a destination.
Chop
“Chop” switches a destination between its current source and the preset source rapidly. The
default chop rate is 6 times per second.
Control point
A port (Ethernet or serial) on the system controller.
Control system
The software that runs on the system controller.
Current config-
uration
The configuration you are editing.
Dst, DST
Destination
Free Source
A source, often “black/silence,” that can be routed to a destination to free the source previ-
ously routed to that destination.
GPI
General Purpose Interface. (The term is occasionally used to mean GPI input.)
GPIO
General Purpose Input and Output.
GUI
Graphic User Interface
HD
High Definition (HD-SDI). Video signal rates: SMPTE 259M at 1.483 and 1.485
Gb/s.
Host
The computer on which the control system runs.
I/O
Input / Output
LED
Light Emitting Diode
LPR
Lock / Protect / Release.
Machine
Control
The control of playback devices (typically tapes) that require cueing, rewinding, stopping,
and starting, and some other kinds of operations.
Machine control routers are port-to-port routers where ports are bidirectional.
MC
Master Control.
MD, Multidest
Multiple-destination. A panel operation mode in which multiple destinations can be
switched with a single button press (after a certain amount of setup).
MRC
Software used to configure NV8500 family hybrid routers for use.
