Importing and Exporting
Import Data File
•
Data start line number
The data in your .csv file might start at a line other than 1. If your .csv file was created an
export, the data probably start at line 2. You might have a reason for starting data in any
other line. In any case, specify the line number at which your data start.
Message Area
The message box presents status messages regarding your import.
Options
The options section has 3 choices:
•
Target table.
This option has a drop-down list from which you can select a table:
Choose this option when you want to import data to a specific table. You can choose one of
the following 4 tables:
Device
Category
CategoryDetail
PhysConn
After you choose the table, click the ‘Create Mapping’ button to continue with the import.
•
Import mapping file.
Choose this option if you have saved a mapping file and want to retrieve it. When you
choose this option, a ‘Browse’ button appears:
Click the browse button to locate a mapping file that you have previously saved using the
‘Save Mapping’ button of the next page in the import sequence.
Mapping files are always saved in NV9000-SE Utilities’ database repository
(
C:\Users\‹user›\CtrlSysConfigs
under Windows 7) and have no file extension. Be
careful to choose a mapping file that is appropriate for the data you want to import.
Two of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the page advance to the next page in the import
sequence. These are ‘Create Mapping’ and ‘Update/Preview Mapping’.
When you have chosen to import a mapping file, do not click ‘Create Mapping,’ but click
‘Update/Preview Mapping’ instead. Clicking the ‘Create Mapping’ button causes the soft-
ware to ignore your mapping file and create an entirely new mapping in the next page of
the import sequence.
