Name Sets

Configuring Panels

To delete all names of a name set:

1 Check ‘Apply to All Rows’.

2 Select the ‘From’ name set.

3 Click ‘Delete’.

Configuring Panels

All NV96xx control panels support name sets.

There are two parts to configuring a panel with a name set:

Designate the “default name set” in the panel options of the panel’s configuration page.

(Choose one of your defined name sets. Do not choose ‘System Name:0’.

Optionally, assign the ‘Name Set Toggle’ function to one or more buttons. Whether the panel
operator can switch between the chosen name set and system names is at your discretion.

Panel Operation

Certain panels, such as the NV9640, can be configured to use one of the name sets defined in
the NV9000 configuration. If such a panel has a ‘Name Set Toggle’ button, then the operator
may switch between using the assigned name set and using system names.

When a panel is using its assigned name set, the names in the name set appear in applicable
device selection fields or on device selection buttons of the control panel.

When a panel is using the system name set, system names appear in applicable device selection
fields or on device selection buttons of the control panel.

A name set has one entry for every I/O device defined in the configuration. A defined name
set need not contain a name for every device. Fields for devices that have no alternate name
are blank. When a device has no alternate name, the panel operator will see the system
name instead. That is, if an alternate name exists, it will be displayed instead of the system
name.

‘Name Set Toggle’ Buttons

A ‘Name Set Toggle’ button toggles the panel between its default name set and the “system
name” set. Whichever name set an operator selects becomes the “active” name set.

‘Name Set Toggle’ buttons are disabled while a category selection is in progress.

The panel requires that category/suffix device selection be performed using the names in
the system name set. However, it displays the device you selected using the active name set.
We recommend that operators switch to the system name set prior to category/suffix device
selection and return to the preferred preferred name set afterward.
