You can freely copy and move these folders from place to place on your PC or on your computer
network including backup drives.
Do not modify a folder’s contents directly. Use NV9000-SE Utilities to make changes. Otherwise
you will corrupt the configuration.
Hosts
A host is the Windows system under which the NV9000 software runs. The term “host” is
another word for a system controller.
NV9000-SE Utilities’ ‘Hosts’ table (under the ‘Views’ pane) lists the hosts defined in your configu-
ration. You can add, update, or delete hosts. By default there is only one host, named NVCONFIG.
In a redundant system, the second controller resides in a second host whose name, by default, is
NVCONFIG2.
That there is a host table at all is an anomaly. It is not necessary or even helpful to define hosts
other than NVCONFIG and NVCONFIG2.
Host names are also present in the
and the
. These entries are the
name of the primary system controller, which should be NVCONFIG.
Panel IDs
In an NV9000 system, control panels are identified by “panel IDs” and their IP addresses are
assigned by DHCP. “Virtual” panels
—
those that execute as software on your PC
—
like physical
panels, require panel IDs. The EC9700 and EC9710 are software panels that are not considered
virtual panels inasmuch as they do not emulate any physical panel. The EC9700 and EC9710
probably do not have panel IDs. For all software panels, it is the IP address of the PC on which
they execute that is used by the NV9000 software for communication.
Control panel configurations are defined within an NV9000 configuration and may be added or
removed through manipulation of the NV9000’s control panel tables.
The EC9700 and EC9710 are obsolete now, but are still supported.
Master Control
NV9000 systems can include master control subsystems.
In NV9000-SE Utilities, a master control system is treated as if it were a router.
When you are using master control configuration software to develop master control configura-
tions, the master control system can reference sources and destinations controlled by the
NV9000 control system. The master control system, during operation, issues requests for takes
to the NV9000 system. When the NV9000 system performs those takes, it notifies the master
control that it has done so.

NV9000 systems can include Kaleido multi-viewers. The Kaleido multi-viewers can be linked to
routers in the system.
