Control Panels

NV9640 (and NV9640A)

Function Buttons

The NV9640(A) has an array of 30 LCD buttons. Each has 3 lines of text. The buttons can display
one of seven colors dynamically: nominally red, green, blue, purple, amber, yellow, or grey.

Each LCD button has three operational levels: high tally, low tally, and off.

Some buttons functions are assigned by the system. For example, the panel software adds a
“forward” button and a “back” button if there are more sources than buttons on a category
page.

The LCD buttons display a menu if the operator presses a menu button.

Configurers can define ‘Selection’ buttons that select a level during a breakaway setup. (They
must do so if the operator is to make such selections.)

Alphanumeric Display

The alphanumeric display provides feedback for the operators as they press buttons to execute
takes and other operations. The panel functions in either X-Y or multi-destination (MD) mode:

In either case, the display has 8 lines. Operators might need to scroll.

The display has 4 columns:

Level/Dest.

In X-Y mode, this column identifies the levels of the currently selected destination. That des-
tination is identified in the information column.

In MD mode, the ‘Level/Dest’ column presents all the MD destinations (but only 8 at a time)
defined in the NV9640(A) configuration. Operators might need to scroll to see or select a
destination.

Status.

In X-Y mode, the status column represents either the levels of a source or the levels of multi-
ple sources under breakaway.

In MD mode, the status column represents the sources routed to each of the destinations in
the ‘Level/Dest’ column.

Preset.

The preset column indicates what source will be routed to a destination when the operator
presses the ‘Take’ button.

In X-Y mode, the preset column represents either the levels of a source or the levels of multi-
ple sources under breakaway. After the take, they disappear from the preset column and re-
appear in the status column.
