Control Panels
Panel Features
•
‘LCD XY/MD’
Under the LCD XY/MD model, the panel operates standalone, without regard to any
NV9648s, and has a moderately richer function set than under the other two models.
The NV9648 also provides 3 behavioral models::
•
‘Panel Client’
Under the “client” model, the panel operates in conjunction with an NV9649 and other
NV9648s. The NV9649 is the “server” and the NV9648s are the “clients.”
•
‘Panel Standalone’ Mode
Under the “standalone” model, the panel functions much the way it does under the “client”
model, but it does not require the presence of an NV9649 and has a few added button func-
tion types, in particular a destination section button.
•
‘LCD XY/MD’
Under the LCD XY/MD model, the panel also operates standalone, not requiring the pres-
ence of an NV9649, and has a moderately richer function set.
Menus
Most panels have menus that are become active when the operator presses a ‘Menu’ button.
Menu functions typically include:
•
Viewing the panel’s software versions
•
Viewing the user ID
•
Setting the panel ID
•
Changing button illumination
Machine Control
Most, if not all, panels support machine control. Support for machine control routing includes:
•
‘Source is Master’ button and ‘Source is Master default’ panel option.
For certain machine control routes, either the source is the master and the destination is the
slave or the source is the slave and the destination is the master. The button toggles the
state; the panel option allows the panel to start up in the appropriate state.
•
Broadcast button (and broadcast mode)
In broadcast mode, machine control signals are sent to multiple receiving devices.
•
“Data routing” modes
(“Data routing” means machine control routing in the language of NV9000-SE Utilities.)
There are 3 data routing modes:
•
Automatic. If a machine control level is involved in a route, the system makes the route
on the control level even if the control port is in use on the source or destination device.
•
Semi-automatic (recommended). If the control port is in use for the source or destination
device, the system takes all selected levels except machine control and allows the opera-
tor to perform the machine control level route by pressing ‘Take’ a second time.
Semi-automatic mode is not an option in multi-destination mode.
