Introduction

NV9000-SE Utilities provides a mechanism to import and export certain data directly to (and
from) configuration tables.

This limited capability is in addition to the several commands in the ‘File’ menu that allow you to
import and export entire configurations to and from .zip files and .xml files, and to import old
configurations.

These two commands are found in the ‘Tasks’ pane:

Import Data File

Export to File

The ‘Export to File’ command can also be invoked from the ‘Input Phys Conns’ page and
from the ‘Output Phys Conns’ page. See

‘Input Phys Conns’ Page

on page 155 and

‘Output

Phys Conns’ Page

on page 157.

The files involved are .csv files which open directly in Microsoft Excel. The ‘Import Data File’
command expects a properly formatted .csv file. The ‘Export to File’ command generates a .csv
file (or two in some cases).

The data that can be imported and exported using these commands are

Devices

Categories (and category details)

Physical connections

There are several ways these data can be exported or imported.

Export to File

The ‘Export to File’ command has two options:

Table

If you select this option, you can select one of a few tables to export. For the selected table,
you can specify which data fields (identified by column headers) to export and which to
omit.
