3 Jumper Reference

For a 3 jumper reference, you use 3 test reference cords in each
fiber path when you set the reference, as shown in Figure C-3.
The test connections add only the fiber in link to each path. Loss
results for 3 jumper reference method therefore include only the
fiber in the link. This method is suitable for testing links where
the fiber's loss is the majority of the total loss, such as when the
link is very long or patch cords are not used at either end.
Appendix B shows the names of the standards that define the 3
jumper reference method.

Because the results omit both connections in the link, industry
standards do not recommend the 3 jumper reference method for
testing premises fiber, where patch cords are typically used at
both ends of the link and connector loss is a large portion of the
total loss.

Note

When you use the CertiFiber Pro Wizard to verify
your test reference cords for the 3 jumper
reference method, you must set the reference
twice. The first time is for the test on the TRCs,
and the second time is for tests on the fiber links.
