2 Jumper Reference
For a 2 jumper reference, you use 2 test reference cords in each
fiber path when you set the reference, as shown in Figure C-2.
The test connections add one connection, plus the fiber in the
link, to each path. Loss results for the 2 jumper reference method
therefore include only one connection plus the fiber in the link.
This method is suitable for links where the fiber's loss is a
significant portion of the total loss, such as when the link is long
or a patch cord is used at only one end. Appendix B shows the
names of the standards that define the 2 jumper reference
method.
Because the results omit one connection, industry standards do
not recommend the 2 jumper reference method for testing
premises fiber, where patch cords are typically used at both ends
of a link and connector loss is a significant portion of total loss.
Note
If you use a 2 Jumper reference, the Wizard for
the reference procedure does not show steps for
the TRC verification. To save test results for the
TRCs, do the tests manually.
