If a large change in the fiber length occurs, change to AUTO
LENGTH mode, then change to FIXED LENGTH mode again.
To use the real time trace

Clean and inspect the connectors on the launch and tail cords
and the fiber to be tested.

Connect the tester to the link as shown in Figure 104, 105, or
106.

On the home screen, tap the TOOLS icon then tap Real Time
Trace.

In the SELECT A WAVELENGTH popup, select a wavelength
for the test. If you select Auto, the tester selects the
wavelength that gives the best dynamic range and the
smallest dead zones for the link.
If the necessary wavelengths do not show, press , tap the
test setup panel, then on the CHANGE TEST screen, select a test
that has the necessary wavelengths.

On the Real Time Trace screen:
To use the fixed-length mode, tap FIXED LENGTH.
To zoom in and out on the trace, use the pinch, reverse-
pinch, and double-tap gestures on the touchscreen. See
Figure 5 on page 18.
To stop and start the test, tap STOP and RESUME.
To exit the test, tap STOP then tap EXIT.
To save the current results, tap STOP then tap SAVE.
Notes
The results for the real time trace show only the
OTDR trace at one wavelength.
The real time trace result does not include a PASS/
FAIL status.
The real time trace does not show the markers for
the launch and tail cords.
