ipv6-address
The target IPv6 address.
vrf name
For a specific VRF instance.

Usage
The ping command sends an echo request packet to an address, and then awaits a reply. Ping output
can help you evaluate path-to-host reliability, delays over the path, and whether the host can be
reached or is functioning.
Examples
The following example is sample dialog from the ping command using default values.
Switch# ping 192.168.0.1

To discover the routes that packets will actually take when traveling to their destination address, use
the traceroute command in privileged EXEC mode.
Command Syntax
traceroute [ip-address | ip ip-address | ipv6 ipv6-address | vrf name ip-address]
ip-address
The target IP address.
ipv6-address
The target IPv6 address.
vrf name
For a specific VRF instance.
Command Mode
Privileged EXEC
Usage
When not specified, the protocol argument is determined by the software examining the format of the
destination argument. For example, if the software finds a destination argument in IP format, the
protocol value defaults to IP.

The following example is sample dialog from the traceroute command using default values.
