Usage
Generally, if the system is synchronized by a valid outside timing mechanism, such as a Network Time
Protocol (NTP), or if you have a switch with hardware clock, you need not set the software clock. Use
this command if no other time sources are available. The time specified in this command is assumed to
be in the timezone specified by the configuration of the clock timezone command.
Examples
The following example manually sets the software clock to 7:29 p.m. on May 13, 2003:
Switch(config)# clock set 19:29:00 5 13 2003

To set the time zone for display purposes, use the clock set timezone command in global
configuration mode. To set the time to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), use the no form of this
command.
Command Syntax
clock set timezone zone {add | minus} hours-offset [minutes-offset] [seconds-offset]
zone
Name of the time zone to be displayed when standard time is in effect.
The length of the zone argument is limited to 32 characters.
add The
positive
time
zone.
minus
The negative time zone.
hours-offset
Hours difference from UTC.
minutes-offset
(Optional) Minutes difference from UTC.
seconds-offset
(Optional) Seconds difference from UTC.
