How to use
Set the usage method of the scanner.
For details about how the scanner can be used, refer to
How to Use the Scanner (page 24)
.
Use the scanner connected to a computer
Use the scanner by connecting it to a computer via a USB cable or wired LAN.
Use the scanner by itself (DirectScan)
Connect the scanner to a network via a wired LAN to perform the operations from scanning
documents to saving the images or sending them by email.
When [Use the scanner by itself (DirectScan)] is selected, specify the following items:
Show the job list initially
Select whether to set the screen that displays the job list as the initial screen (main screen)
when using DirectScan.
[Show the job list initially] is set to off as the factory default.
[Next] button
In the [NTP Server] screen, set the NTP server to obtain the current time .

Use by connecting to PaperStream NX Manager
Use the scanner by connecting it via wired LAN to a server where PaperStream NX Manager is
installed.
When [Use by connecting to PaperStream NX Manager] is selected, specify the following item:
[Next] button
Configure the settings for PaperStream NX Manager in the [PaperStream NX Manager]
screen.
