Components

The information in this document is based on the following Brocade hardware and software
versions:

1 x Brocade Mobility RFS7000-GR Controller

5 x Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR Access Points.

Unauthorized AP Detection

As shown in figure below, a switch is deployed at a site with four Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR
Access Points. The administrator wants to enable unauthorized AP detection to be proactively
alerted when any APs are added or removed from the site.

To support the detection of unauthorized APs, three Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR Access Points
are configured to perform single channel scanning while simultaneously providing WLAN services
to users. The three APs monitor 2.4GHz channels (1, 6 and 11) and 5GHz channels (36, 40 & 48).
The fourth Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR Access Point is configured as a dedicated detector AP and
monitors all the channels within the regulatory domain. APs provide the switch with complete
visibility into the 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrum at this site using three Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR
Access Points with single channel scanning and a dedicated detector.

Switch Applet Configuration

The following configuration example demonstrates how to globally enable unauthorized AP
detection on an RF switch and configure Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR Access Point scanning
options using the switch UI applet:

1. From the switch menu tree select Network > Access Port Radios.

2. Select the Configuration tab.

3. Highlight and select an Brocade Mobility 7131N-FGR Access Point radio then click Edit.
