Introduction

The Voice Gateway Media Card (VGMC) supports the Nortel IP Phone set.
The VGMC provides a communication gateway between the IP data network
and the Small System. The IP Phone translates voice into data packets for
transport using Internet Protocol (IP). The IP Phone uses the customer’s
IP network (TLAN network interface) to communicate with the VGMC and
the optional Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server. A DHCP
server is used to provide the required information needed to enable the IP
Phone network connection and to connect it to the VGMC.

There are three types of VGMC:

ITG-P 24-port line card (occupies 2 slots)

Media Card 8-port line card (occupies 1 slot)

Media Card 32-port line card (occupies 1 slot)
