DATUM SHIFT (Cycle 7)

Application

With the aid of the datum shift, machining operations can be repeated at
various locations on the workpiece.

Activation

After cycle definition of the DATUM SHIFT, all coordinate data are based
on the new datum. The datum shift is displayed in the additional status
area.

Input data

For a datum shift, you need only enter the coordinates of the new datum
(zero point). Absolute values are referenced to the manually set workpiece
datum. Incremental values are referenced to the datum which was last
valid; this can be a datum which has already been shifted.

Cancellation

A datum shift is cancelled by entry of the datum shift coordinates X=0,
Y=0 and Z=0.

When combining transformations, the datum shift must be programmed before the other transformations.

Graphics

If you program a new BLK FORM after a datum shift, MP 7310 (see page
12-10) determines whether the BLK FORM is referenced to the current
datum or the original datum. Referencing a new BLK FORM to the current
datum enables you to display each part in a program in which several parts
are machined.
