Important guidelines
When creating symbols, keep the following in mind:
 FactoryTalk View does not check for security access on symbol names.
Therefore, be sure to put security on the underlying FactoryTalk View command. For
information about setting up security, see Chapter 5, Setting up security.
 If a symbol and a macro have the same name, the symbol runs instead of the macro.
The order of precedence is: symbol, command, macro.
Running and building commands
Use the command line to run commands during application development, testing, and
maintenance.
Use the Command Wizard to build command strings.
The Command Wizard lists all FactoryTalk View commands and their syntax. The
wizard also lists any macros that you have created.

commands, see Help.
