10 Low-speed ATM configuration
•
When IPoA is used, the IP protocol address mapping is not configured correctly.
•
When PPPoA is used, the IP addresses at two points are of different network segments or
the verification is not configured consistent.
•
The types of ATM interface fibers of two sides are not the same.
Troubleshooting procedure
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1
If two routers are directly connected, check whether the interface clock of one side is
configured as
master
. Ensure that one of them is configured with the internal clock.
Step 2
When IPoA is used, check whether the IP protocol address mapping is configured correctly. If
the interfaces of two routers are directly connected, the local PVC mapped to the peer IP must
have the same (VPI, VCI) value as the peer PVC mapped to the local IP. Their IP addresses
must also be in the same network segment.
Step 3
When PPPoA is used, check whether the IP addresses on both sides fall into the same network
segment; check whether the verification is configured consistently.
Step 4
Please check the ATM interfaces on both sides to ensure that both are either multimode fiber
interfaces or single mode fiber interfaces. When directly connected, a multimode fiber
interface and a single mode fiber interface may interconnect in most cases, but sometimes
severe packet dropping and CRC errors might occur.

10.13.3 PVC is down though the ATM interface is up
Fault description
The ATM interface is UP, but the PVC is Down.
Fault analysis
The possible cause is that OAM F5is enabled.
Troubleshooting procedure
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1
Check whether this fault results from enabling the OAM F5.
CQ NOTE
When you connect two ATM devices, their PVCs must have the same (VPI, VCI) values. Otherwise,
after enabling OAM F5, the local PVC statuses do not change to UP.
Step 2
If PVCs of two ATM devices are not consistent, modify them to be consistent.
