ppp chap password { cipher | simple } password
The command configures the password used in the authentication.
Step 5 Run:
restart
The command restarts the interface.
CQ NOTE
If the user name and the password are changed, use the restart or the , shutdown and the undo
shutdown command under the interface view to validate the configuration.

6.4.4 Checking the configuration
Run the following commands to check the previous configuration.
Action Command
Check the PPP configuration
and the status of the interface. display interface [ interface-type [ interface-number ] ]
Run the display interface command to check the status of PPP, LCP and IPCP. When the
status of LCP and IPCP is "opened" the authentication succeeds. For example:
display interface Serial 6/0/0
