fr map ip { ip-address [ mask ]
| default } dlci-number compression frf9
The command creates an FR mapping and enables FR FRF.9 compression on DLCI.
You configure this command only on the FR main interface or point-to-multipoint FR
sub-interface, and the packet encapsulation type must be IETF. If the packet encapsulation
type is nonstandard, and when you run the command to enable the FR FRF.9 compression, the
system prompts that the nonstandard encapsulation type does not support FRF.9 compression.
CQ NOTE
•
The FRF.9 compression is suitable for the low-speed link.
•
The MFR link does not use the FRF.9 compression.
•
The FRF.9 compression has one synchronization procedure. During the compression, the packets are
in disorder. Usually, the compression does not succeed.

A
If the two main interfaces that connect DTE and DCE satisfies the following two conditions:
•
You configure the FRF.9 compression on the two main interfaces.
•
The DLCI of the main interface at the DTE side is learned through the dynamic address
mapping.
After running the
undo fr map ip
{ ip-address |
default
} dlci-number command on the main
interface at the DTE side succeeds, you must restart the two main interfaces to make the DTE
and DCE communicate normally.
8.9.4 Checking the configuration
Run the following commands to check the previous configuration.
Action
Command
Check whether the frame relay
compression takes effects.
display fr pvc-info
Check the statistics of FR
compression.
display fr compress
[
interface
interface-type
interface-number ]
Run the
display fr pvc-info
command. The configuration succeeds when the statistics of
FRF.9 compression appears. In the following display, the FRF9 compression status is
"OPERATION", which indicates the FR FRF.9 compression is validated.
PVC statistics for interface Serial6/0/0 (DCE, physical UP)
