6 PPP and MP configuration

Step 3
Choose one of the following steps to configure the interface as the callback server or the
callback client.
•
Run the
ppp callback server
command to set the interface as the callback server.
•
Run the
ppp callback client
command to set the interface as the callback client.

•
Only the low-speed serial interface, and the Dialer interface support call back function.
•
One interface cannot be set as the server and client at the same time.
Step 4
Run:
ppp callback ntstring dial-string
The command configures the dialing number used to call back the router.
CQ NOTE
Perform as step 4 only when the router is configured as a client end of calling back.

6.5.3 Configuring packet or packet header compression

NOTE
On the SR8000, only the Serial, Virtual-Template and MP-Group interfaces supports the packet or the
packet header compression on the PPP link layer. The POS interface does not support the packet or the
packet header compression on the PPP link layer.
Enabling Stac compression on the interface
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view appears.
Step 2
Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view appears.
Step 3
Run:
ppp compression stac-lzs
The command enables Stac compression on the interface.
Step 4
Run:
restart
The command restarts the interface.
