8 Frame relay configuration
interface interface-type interface-number
The FR interface view appears.
Step 3 Run:
link-protocol fr [ ietf | nonstandard ]
The command configures the link layer protocol of the interface as FR.
By default, the link layer protocol encapsulation of the interface is PPP. When the FR
protocol is encapsulated, by default, the encapsulation format of the frame is IETF.
m
NOTE
• Modifing the FR encapsulation format of the interface can delete the original FR configuration on
the interface. After you modify the FR encapsulation format, you need to re-configure the FR.
• After the link layer of the interface is changed, first run the shutdown command to disable the
interface. Then run the undo shutdown command to restart the interface to ensure that the
configuration is valid.
Step 4 Run:
fr interface-type dte
The command configures the FR interface type as DTE.
By default, the FR interface type is DTE. Therefore, this Step is optional.
Step 5 Run:
ip address ip-address { mask | mask-length }
The command configures the IP address of the interface.
Step 6 Run:
fr dlci dl ci
The command configures the DLCI of the FR link.
If the type of a main interface is DTE, and the interface is enabled with dynamic address
mapping, you can automatically identify the local DLCI according to the peer device. In this
case, this step is optional.
If the DLCI at the DCE side changes and if no service is a^ected, then restart interfaces on
both ends. You can also run the
reset fr inarp command to clear the mapping to ensure the
DTE can learn correct address mapping.
If the DLCI at DTE side is configured, it must be the same as that configured at DCE side.
Step 7 Run:
fr inarp [ ip [ dlci-number ]
]
The dynamic address mapping is enabled.
CQ NOTE
• For Nortel products, FR interfaces are enabled with dynamic address mapping by default.
• The dynamic address mapping can be configured only on an FR main interface.
