6 PPP and MP configuration
The MP-Group interface view appears.
Step 3 Run:
ppp mp reorder
The command enables the packet sequential function on the MP-group interface.
When you bundle the multiple links on the MP-group interface, the differences in the physical
attributes of the bundled links and the sizes of the fragment packet can cause that the
sequence of receiving the packets is not consistent with that of sending the packets. For the
common IP packet, the disordered packets are automatically re-grouped through the protocol
mechanism.
When there is serious requirement for the packet order and there is no effective re-group
mechanism for the disorder packet, the packet disorder on the MP-Group interface may
causes that the network performance decreases seriously or you cannot use the network. For
example, the transparent transmission of the ATM cells based on MP and the IPHC
compression based on MP. The packet order guarantee function needs to be configured on the
MP-Group interface to ensure the order of the received packets.
CQ NOTE
For details about the ATM cells, refer to the "PWE3 Configuration" in theNortel Secure Router 8000
Series Configuration Guide - VPN. For details about the IPHC compression, refer to the "Link
Efficiency Mechanism Configuration" in the Nortel Secure Router 8000 Series Configuration Guide -
QoS.
You do not need to configure the packet order guarantee function on the MP-Group interface
needs on both ends. Choose the configuration as required.
By default, the packet order guarantee function on the MP-group interface is disabled.
The packet order guarantee function can guarantee the received packets on the MP-Group
interface and the packet fragments to be consistent with those during the sending. To
guarantee the fragment order of the packet, you can run the
ppp mp reorder-window
command to configure the fragment re-group function to the MP packet. After the packet
order guarantee function is configured on the MP-group interface, the
ppp mp
reorder-window command is invalid automatically.
Step 4 Run:
restart
The command restarts the MP-group interface.
After configuring with the command, you need to restart the MP-Group interface to make the
command take e^ect. You can run the
shutdown and undo shutdown command in turn in
the MP-group interface view or run the
restart command directly.
