5.3 Configuring the virtual template

The newly configured or modified parameters of a virtual template can take effect only
after you run the
shutdown
and the
undo shutdown
command.

To configure or modify services such as MPLS, MTU or ISIS, configure or modify those
services, and then perform related VT configuration on the other interfaces.
5.3.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
You use the virtual template (VT) in VPN, MP and ATM applications. The system creates and
deletes virtual access interfaces and the process is transparent to users.
The link layer of VTs supports only the PPP protocol and the network layer supports only IP.
Preconfiguration tasks
Before configuring a virtual template, complete the following tasks:

Installing and powering on the router properly
•
Configuring the physical interface
