8 Frame relay configuration

Configuration -WAN Access
Data preparation
To configure the backup of the FR over IP, you need the following data:
•
The IP addresses of Router A and Router D are 196.1.1.1/24 and 196.1.1.2/24
respectively.
•
The VC number
of the network segment between Router A and Router B are 100.
•
The VC number
of the network segment between Router B and Router C are 300.
•
The VC number
of the network segment between Router C and Router D are 200.
•
The IP address of the Ethernet interfaces on Router B and Router C are 10.1.1.1/24 and
10.1.1.2/24.
Configuration procedure
Step 1
Configure Router A.
# Encapsulate Serial 1/0/0 with FR.
[RouterA] interface Serial1/0/0
[RouterA-Serial1/0/0] link-protocol fr
[RouterA-Serial1/0/0] ip address 196.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
[RouterA-Serial1/0/0] quit
Step 2
Configure Router B.
# Encapsulate Serial 1/0/0 with FR and configure the interface type as DCE.
[RouterB] interface Serial1/0/0
[RouterB-Serial1/0/0] link-protocol fr
[RouterB-Serial1/0/0] fr interface-type dce
[RouterB-Serial1/0/0] fr dlci 100
[RouterB-fr-dlci-Serial1/0/0-100] quit
[RouterB-Serial1/0/0] quit
# Encapsulate Serial 2/0/0 with FR and configure the interface type as NNI.
[RouterB] interface Serial2/0/0
[RouterB-Serial2/0/0] link-protocol fr
[RouterB-Serial2/0/0] fr interface-type nni
[RouterB-Serial2/0/0] fr dlci 300
[RouterB-fr-dlci-Serial2/0/0-300] quit
[RouterB-Serial2/0/0] quit
# Configure GbE 3/0/0 and Tunnel 3/0/1.
[RouterB] interface ethernet3/0/0
[RouterB-Ethernet3/0/0] ip address 10.1.1.1 24
[RouterB-Ethernet3/0/0] quit
[RouterB] interface Tunnel 3/0/1
[RouterB-Tunnel3/0/1] source 10.1.1.1
