8 Frame relay configuration

Configuring basic frame relay DCE capability
Do as follows on the routers at DCE side:
Step 1
Run:
system-view
The system view appears.
Step 2
Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The FR interface view appears.
Step 3
Run:
link-protocol fr [ ietf | nonstandard ]
The command configures the link layer protocol of the interface as FR.
Step 4
Run:
fr interface-type dce
The command configures the type of the FR interface as DCE.
Step 5
Run:
ip address ip-address { mask | mask-length }
The command configures the IP address of the interface.
Step 6
Run:
fr dlci dl ci
The command configures the DLCI of the FR link.
CQ NOTE
If the interface type is DCE or NNI, you must configure the DLCI.
Step 7
Run:
fr inarp [ ip [ dlci-number ]
]
The command configures the dynamic address mapping.
OQ NOTE
•
For Nortel products, FR interfaces are enabled with dynamic address mapping by default.
•
You configure the dynamic address mapping only on an FR main interface.

8.2.3 Configuring frame relay NNI interworking
The configuration of FR interfaces of NNI type is similar to that of DCE type. For detailed
configuration, see Configuring basic frame relay DCE capability.
If you configure the interface on one end as a NNI interface, you must also configure the
interface on the other end as NNI.
