Configuring the Syslog Server
This section about the syslog server contains the following procedures:

Configuring the
Syslog Server’s
IP Address
The chassis can only use the 10/100Base-TX port on the AT-CV5M01
Management Card to send out the packets to the sysLog server.
When configuring a Syslog Server Address, the following guidelines apply:
The 10/100Base-TX port on the AT-CV5M01 Management Card must
be connect to the network.
The AT-CV5M01 Management Card must be assigned an IP address
and subnet mask.
The AT-CV5M01 Management Card must be assigned a default
gateway if a router separates the management card from the remote
device being pinged.
The syslog server must reachable through the same subnet as the
10/100Base-TX port on the AT-CV5M01 Management Card.
To specify the IP address of a syslog server, perform the following
procedure:
1. From the Main Menu, select Administration.
The Administration Menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 6 on page
38.
2. From the Administration Menu, select Syslog Server Address field
and enter the IP address of the syslog server.
3. Press
The syslog server IP address is displayed.
4. From the Main Menu, select System Configuration.
The System Configuration Menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 10
on page 46.
5. From the System Configuration Menu, select Save Configuration
File.

This feature adds a facility code to the entries when they are sent to the
syslog server. The facility level is a way for you to add a numerical code to
each entry to help you group entries on the syslog server according to the
