10-18 New Functions and Features

Quick Builder has also been enhanced to allow the creation of custom
parameters attached to analog, status and accumulator points. These
parameters can either be constants, variables, database references or
point/parameter references. Although not enforced it is recommended
that only 100 user-defined parameters be created per point.

Some other enhancements to Quick Builder:

A 1 sec scanning rate has been added to allow standard points
(analog, status, accumulator) to be scanned at 1-second
intervals. This rate is in addition to the existing scan rates.

Analog and accumulator units can now be 8 characters long
(previously they were limited to 6 characters).

Status point state descriptors can now also be 8 characters
(previously they were limited to 6 characters).

The number of alarm limits for analog points has increased from
4 to 8 limits.

Default update rate when adding a static Station connection is
now 1 second (down from 5 seconds).

Updated OPC Support

The ProcessLogix OPC Server & Client now support the v2.0 standard
for data access. This is in addition to the existing v1.0a support. In
additional to this the ProcessLogix OPC Server now supports browsing
of tags by 3rd party OPC Clients.

Enhanced Area Assignment Support

The ProcessLogix Server now supports the creation of Area Profiles to
help simplify the assignment of areas to operators. Area profiles can
contain multiple area lists and time periods. Area lists are a grouping
of areas. Time periods specify specific days and times during that day.

When areas are assigned to either operators, Stations or area profiles a
security level can be assigned. This security level can be full access
(control/acknowledge), acknowledge only or view only.

The area access that the currently logged on operator has can be
combined with the area access of the Station they are using so that
only the areas that are common to both will be accessible.
