Firmware Maintenance Procedures

1784-PCIC Driver and
Firmware Installation

Install Hardware Device Drivers

1. After you restart the PC and logon as ps_user, the Found New

Hardware Wizard will automatically appear.

2. Click Next.

3. Choose the Search for a suitable driver option and click Next.

4. Check only the Specify a location checkbox and click Next.

5. Insert the ProcessLogix R400.0 Software CD 2 into the CD-ROM

drive.

6. Key in this path location in the Copy manufacturer’s file from

field or use Browse to navigate to:

>D:(or your CD-ROM drive letter)
\RSLinx\RSLinx\PnP_Drivers\Win2K\1784-PCIC(S)\abvbp2k.inf<

7. Click OK.

8. Click Next to install the driver.

9. If necessary, click Yes to overwrite the VirtualBackplane.sys file.

ATTENTION

!

If your 1784-PCIC firmware has not been updated for
ProcessLogix R400.0, this procedure must be
followed to use the 1784-PCIC in R400.0.

With the Win2K Operating System, plug-n-play
devices, like the PCIC card, are automatically
detected and drivers installed, if found. The first time
the system detects the PCIC driver, a Found New
Hardware wizard displays and you have the option
to install the driver. The following section describes
the procedure to install the 1784-PCIC drivers.
