File Type: The type of configuration files to be compared, including Current Startup
Configuration, Current Running Configuration, and Backup History.

Stack Unit: If the selected device is a stack device, this field displays the stack unit.
{
File Name: If the selected file is the current startup configuration file or current running
configuration file, this field is blank. If the selected file is a backup configuration file, this field
displays the name of the backup configuration file.

Baseline Configuration File: This field identifies whether the configuration file of the device is the
baseline configuration file. You can specify only one baseline configuration file. If the current
configuration file is the baseline, the field is blank. Otherwise, the field displays a Baseline icon
. Click the Baseline icon
to configure the current configuration as the new baseline
configuration file. Then the Baseline icon
appears in the Baseline Configuration File field of
the previous baseline configuration file.

Compare: This field is blank if the current file is the baseline configuration file. Otherwise, this
field displays the View Change icon
.

Filter out commands that you do not want to compare. The filtered contents you configured in
simple mode also takes effect for comparison in advanced mode.

Click the Filtered content link on the upper right of the page. The Filtered content window
appears.

Enter keywords or complete command lines you want to filter out in the Filtered content field.
The contents are case sensitive. For example, if you enter interface, the commands in either
configuration file containing interface are not compared. If you enter a, the commands in
either configuration file containing character a are not compared.

Click Add to add one more line of contents to be filtered out.

Click Delete to delete the contents on that line.

Click OK to save the filtered contents and return to the General Configuration Compare page.

Click the View Change icon
to compare the current configuration file with the baseline
configuration file. After comparison, the comparison results appear. For more information, see

Results window
The compare results window comprises two parts. The left side of the window displays the command
lines of the left device, and the right side of the window displays the command lines of the right device.
Commands are compared line by line.
1.
Select Show All to view all commands, including the same lines, changed lines, and unique lines
of the two configuration files. Select Show Different Only to view the changed lines and unique
lines.
Commands in black are the same lines or were filtered out in comparison. Commands in red are
changed lines, which are different in the two configuration files. Commands in blue are unique
lines that exist only in the left or right configuration file.

Click Previous Diff to move the cursor to the previous changed line or unique line. Click Previous
Diff to move the cursor to the next changed line or unique line.

Click Close to exit the compare results window.
