6. Select 1 - Create SNMP Community to configure SNMP parameters.
The following prompt appears:
Enter SNMP Community Name:
7. Enter a SNMP community name of up to 15 alphanumeric characters
and press Return. This parameter is case sensitive.
Note
Community names act as passwords for the SNMP protocol. Allied
Telesyn recommends that you select SNMP community names
carefully to ensure these names are known only to authorized
personnel.
The following prompt appears:
Enter Access Mode [R-Read Only, W-Read|Write]:
8. Enter an access mode for the SNMP community and press Return.
R
Enter R to permit read only access to the SNMP community.
W
Enter W to permit read-write access to the SNMP community.
The following prompt appears:
Enter Open Access Status [Y-Yes, N-No]:
9. Enter an open access status for the SNMP community and press
Return.
Y
Enter Y to permit access to the SNMP community by any
management station.
N
Enter N to permit access to the SNMP community by a
management station configured within this community.
The following prompt appears:
Enter SNMP Manager IP Addr:
10. Enter an IP address of an SNMP management station to permit it to
access the switch. Press Return.
Use the following format for an IP address:
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
You can enter an IP address of an SNMP management station with
the open access status field set to Yes. However, the IP addresses
of the SNMP management stations take effect when you reset the
open access status to No.
