Port-Based Access Network Control Overview

The AT-S60 software’s IEEE 802.1X-based Port-Based Network Access
Control feature is a client-server-based access control and
authentication protocol that restricts unauthorized clients who attempt
to connect to a network through accessible, local ports. When Port-
Based Network Access Control is enabled, the authentication server
authenticates each client connected to a port before making the
network available or any services offered by the switch.

You can configure port access control only via local and Telnet
management. For detailed information about 802.1x-based port access
control, see 802.1x Port-Based Network Access Control on page 406.

The following sections describe procedures for configuring Port Access
Control.
