Downloading an Image File Using TFTP
To download a file using TFTP, perform the following procedure:
1. To begin:
a. If you are using a Telnet management session, the following
prompt is already displayed from step 4 in the procedure that
begins on page 154:
Only TFTP downloads are available for a Telnet
access.
TFTP server IP address:
b. If you are using a local management session, type T at the prompt
displayed in step 4 in the procedure that begins on page 154:
The following prompt is displayed:
TFTP Server IP address:
2. Enter the IP address of the TFTP server.
The following prompt is displayed:
Remote File Name:
3. Enter the name of the image file to download.
Note
The image file name can be a maximum of 20 characters long.
Note
The file you are downloading must be stored in the download
directory of the TFTP server.
After you specify the filename, the download begins. The
download process takes several seconds to complete.
When the downloading process is complete, the file is validated.
The switch compares the new image to the existing image file that
the switch is running. If the two files are the same, the following
message is displayed:
The downloading application image version is same as
current version
Skipping this download...
Press any key to continue...
If this message is not displayed, proceed to step 5. Otherwise, go
on to step 4.
4. Press any key.
The Downloads & Uploads Menu is displayed, as shown in Figure
45 on page 154.
