Summary of Activating the Software

The operator instructions are transferred to the target system in the activation package.
Most activities performed outside of DSM/SCM that are mentioned in your operator
instructions are not documented in detail here because these procedures can change
for different RVUs. For more information, you are referred to other manuals as
appropriate.

1. Some major updates require additional migration steps, so first check the release

documentation for each RVU you install. (Interactive Upgrade Guide 2, Gxx.xx
Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
, and Hxx.xx Software Installation and
Upgrade Guide

2. Review the operator instructions for activating the new software on the target

system. If you performed the Apply separate from the Build, you should already
have the operator instructions. If not, proceed to

Print the Instructions for Activating

the Software

on page 10-3.

3. Perform the operator instructions.

Activate Software on the Target

Run the ZPHITI.

> RUN ZPHITI

___

Log on to the ZPHITI.

Enter an authorized user
and password, press F1

___

Select Perform target activities.

Enter 3, press F1

___

Find and enter the number corresponding to the logical
target on which to apply the software.

Enter target number,
press F1

___

View operator instructions and follow them.

Enter 3, press F1

___

Exit the ZPHITI.

Shift-F16

___

Run ZPHRNM in PREVIEW mode:

> RUN ZPHRNM SYSnn , PREVIEW

nn

is the number of the

SYSnn you just created.

Do you want to use a log file?

Yes

___

Enter a file name. For example: $system.target.rnmlog1

$system.subvol.file

When finished, correct errors and run ZPHIRNM:

> RUN ZPHRNM SYSnn

SYS01

After ZPHIRNM successfully completes, boot up from the
new SYSnn using OSM.
