Schedule Manager (SM)
The Schedule Manager is a host and target static server that:
Ensures activities take place in the proper order
Provides delayed scheduling of requests
Provides persistence for the other server classes
Input Supervisor (IS)
The Input Supervisor runs as a host dynamic server class. The major functions of the
IS are:
Archiving new software from sources such as RVUs, SPRs, third-party and
customer new versions or updates, and loading the database with information
referencing the software
Loading target snapshot information into the host database
Configuration Builder (CB)
The Configuration Builder runs as a host dynamic server class. It performs the steps to
build and package software for a software revision, including:
Building the software revision, which includes running a system generation
program if necessary
Placing the files built by a system generation program into the archive
Creating the activation package
Target Activator (TA)
The Target Activator runs under a target dynamic server class. It performs all
DSM/SCM target functions, including:
Placing and securing new software on the target subvolumes
Saving the previous software revision so a backout can be performed
Building and packaging a snapshot
Retrieving operator instructions from the activation package
Performing cleanup
