Migration Troubleshooting
To upgrade to a new RVU, you must select Copy to of the new RVU from the
Software in Archive window (not from List Products of the contents of the RVU).
When upgrading to a new RVU, you must select one of:
The RVU from the Software in Archive window; then click Copy to.
The T6032 product for the site ID from the RVU in the Software in Archive
window; then click Copy to.
The Planner Interface passes the RVU for the configuration revision. Selecting the
RVU from the Software in Archive window:
Makes DSM/SCM filter the product set that gets copied to the configuration
revision so only products specified in the CUSTFILE for the system get copied.
Causes the configuration revision to be rebased to this RVU, which deletes all
of the prior revision’s contents because they might not be compatible with the
new RVU. You need to retain or recopy any SPRs, third-party products, or your
own applications by picking the appropriate versions to go with this RVU. If the
SUT, which is being copied to, has both the heap manager products (T8431
and T1269), DSM/SCM also displays the Heap Manager Selection dialog box.
This feature is supported only on systems running G06.29 and later G-series
RVUs.
If you choose products from the product list, DSM/SCM assumes you are not
upgrading to a new RVU but just choosing changes or additions for this
configuration revision. If you list the products in an RVU in the Software in Archive
window and then select products from the product list, DSM/SCM does not filter
the products based on the CUSTFILE, and it only replaces the selected entries into
the configuration revision.
You can use the Planner Interface to remove unwanted products from the
configuration revision after the Copy to from the RVU. Without any CUSTFILE
modifications, you can prepare additional products such as customer applications
and third-party products with CNFGINFO, receive them into the archive, and copy
them to the configuration revision.
Note. If you only select and copy products from the RVU, no indication is sent as to the
proper RVU level.
