network connected
network connected. Multiple computer systems (or nodes) communicating with each other
by means of an Expand or other network connection. To use a network other than one
with an Expand connection, you must transmit objects (such as the activation package
or snapshot) outside of DSM/SCM.
new product version (NPV). A complete set of product files that contains new functions or
major updates. Also refers to customer products and third-party products received into
the DSM/SCM archive.
OSIMAGE. A file built during system generation that contains the complete image of the HP
NonStop operating system that runs in each processor in the system.
ownership. Refers to the user who has the authority to set the security of files. The default
ownership for files new to a target is set within DSM/SCM by the planner in the
Defaults dialog box of the target profile. For replacement files, the ownership is set to
that of the file being replaced. For exported files, the planner sets the ownership when
initiating the request.
parameter list. A list of values passed to SQLCI to use when processing a request to
create a DSM/SCM report.
parking lot. The area in the main DSM/SCM window below the Software in Archive and
Configuration Revisions windows. If you minimize a request’s status window,
DSM/SCM places an icon representing the request in the parking lot. You can then
quickly check the status of a request.
Requests started in previous sessions do not appear in the parking lot unless you
select a request from the Requests window, then open and minimize its status window.
physical target. See
planner. The DSM/SCM user that plans and manages new software revisions using the
DSM/SCM Planner Interface to carry out most of these functions.
Planner Interface. A graphical user interface to DSM/SCM that runs on the host system. It
provides an interface to all the host DSM/SCM planner functions.
planner instructions. A list of tasks generated by DSM/SCM for the operator at the target
system to perform when activating the software for a configuration. This list should be
added to or modified by the planner and is included in the activation package.
polling. The act of checking a request while it is processing to determine if any status
changes have occurred.
previously applied configuration. The configuration that was executing on the target
system before the current configuration. The current configuration is saved when a
new configuration is created, and becomes the previously applied configuration.
