Modifying Standard Reports
You can modify any report in the DSM/SCM report list except:
You can modify reports in several ways:
Change the content, style, formatting, or description of a report.
Add parameters to or delete them from a report’s parameter list.
Change the type or description of a parameter.
Every DSM/SCM report is defined by an IN_file, which you can modify using a text
editor. The IN_file contains:
An SQL SELECT statement that defines the contents of the report, specifying
which data items to extract from the database
SQLCI Report Writer formatting commands that define the style and format of the
report, including titles, headers, footers, margins, page breaks, and numeric
formatting.
To change the format or contents of a report, you must edit the IN_file that contains the
report definition, then update its parameters and description in the Planner Interface.
1. Edit the IN_file containing the report definition:
a. Go to the database subvolume containing the standard report you need to
change.
The IN_file for the system report is in the SQL catalog subvolume,
Xsystem-name, on target systems. For example, on \ALPHA, the IN_file
is in subvolume XALPHA.
The IN_files for all other reports are in the database subvolume
(XPHIHDB) on the host system. Actual IN_file names and locations are
listed in the SQLCI Obey Filename field in the Maintain Report dialog box.
b. Copy the existing IN_file. This creates a separate, modified version of the
report with its own title, description, and IN_file, making the original report
available if needed by HP support personnel.

Note. You must add, change, or delete a report parameter in both the SQL IN_file and the
Planner Interface.
Note. The location of the database subvolume is established during the installation of
DSM/SCM. If the host database is moved, so are the report IN_files.
