Task 6: Edit the Instructions
Task 6: Edit the Instructions
DSM/SCM generates a basic set of instructions for applying new software on the target
system. You can edit them to include instructions specific to your software installation.
For example, you can provide product-specific installation notes from a softdoc,
indicate which startup files to run, when to perform the system load, and whether to
stop applications such as TMF or Safeguard during activation on the target system.
To edit the instructions:
1. If you are cutting and pasting text into the instructions, you must have assembled
the text to be pasted as described in
before you opened the Build/Apply request window.
2. In the Build/Apply Request window, click Edit instructions.
DSM/SCM displays the Planner Instructions dialog box:
3. Add instructions as needed. Change the existing text or enter new text in the space
provided:
You can type the text directly in the box.
You can paste the text you assembled before you opened the Build/Apply
Request window.
Put the cursor at the end of the text in the Planner Instructions dialog box;
then press Ctrl-V to paste the assembled text from Notepad in the Planner
Instructions.
Position the cursor where you want to insert the text from the document;
then press Ctrl-V (or right-click and select Paste) to paste the text in the
dialog box.
4. Click OK to return to the Build/Apply Request window.
