Setting File Placement Options
Place all files using host files
If you select this option, all files are copied. This requires a lot of time and disk
space. The Apply and ZPHIRNM take much longer. After the Apply completes, two
sets of every file (one for the current configuration, one for the previous) are on the
target system, thus taking up more disk space. Only the next Build that does not
use this option frees the disk space.
If you also select the Export necessary files during Apply option, the Build
does not take longer.
If you also select the Include all files in activation package option, the
activation package requires a considerable amount of disk space. For
example, a full G06.06 RVU with compression ON requires 1.1 gigabytes.
Place only changed files using only host files
If you select this option, target files are not copied. DSM/SCM places new files
whether or not they already exist on the target. Use this option when you no longer
want certain attributes, such as user libraries, previously assigned to the existing
target file.
If you select the Include changed files in AP during build option, the activation
package subvolume contains more files, thus requiring more disk space because
target files cannot be used.
Making Host Files Accessible for File Placement
You can use these options to specify which files to include in the activation package
and whether DSM/SCM exports necessary files during the Apply. You can choose to:
Include all files in activation package during build
If the Build/Apply is not configured to use an Expand connection between the host
and target systems -AND- you select the Place all files using host files option, this
option is required.
Include changed files in activation package during build
Export necessary files during apply
If the Build/Apply is not configured to use an Expand connection between the host
and target systems, this option is not available.
Note. These options apply only to Guardian files. OSS files are not individually packaged.
