Creating a Clone Group

Discrepancy Reports can be generated for clone targets only through a special
process. See

Creating a Discrepancy Report for a Clone

on page 18-14.

Creating a Clone Group

You create a Clone Group by modifying the target description text for logical targets in
the Planner Interface.

Task 1: Define a Master Target

1. In the Configuration Revisions window, select the system you want to be the

master target. This can be a Host or Target system.

2. From the Maintain menu, select Target Maintenance->Modify.

The default information for that system appears.

3. In the Target description field, enter as the initial text. It must be the

first text in the description, followed by a space and then the rest of the description
text.

For future reference, you should add text explaining that this target is a master. For
example:

This is a master target. Configurations installed on
\master-sysname will also be installed on targets with \master-sysname in their Target descriptions.

4. Click OK.

This system is now defined as a master target.

Task 2: Define Clone Targets

1. In the Configuration Revisions window, select the system you want to be a clone in

this clone group.

2. From the Maintain menu, select Target Maintenance->Modify.

The default information for that system appears.

3. In the Target description field, enter master-sysname> as the initial

text. It must be the first text in the description, followed by a space and then the
rest of the description text.

For future reference, you should add text explaining that this is a clone target. For
example:

master-sysname> This is a clone of \master-sysname.
Configurations installed on \master-sysname will also be
installed on this target, regardless of any other attributes
specified here.

4. Click OK.
