cloning
cloning. A DSM/SCM feature allowing for simplified installation and management of
software configurations on multiple identical NonStop systems.
compression. The process of reducing the size of files by about one half by using
algorithms to indicate how repeating characters (such as spaces) should be stored.
configuration file. See
Configuration Information Tool (CNFGINFO). The CNFGINFO tool collects developer-
specified or user-specified file attributes for a product, creates records of each file’s
attributes, and places the records in the DSM/SCM configuration information file
(A0CINFO) in the product’s DSV. DSM/SCM uses these file attributes to process the
files during the Build and Apply tasks.
Configuration Manager profile. See
.
configuration revision. A planner-defined set of software products and related
configuration information that DSM/SCM can activate on a target system. Multiple
configuration revisions might exist on a target system. A configuration revision consists
of the product versions named in its software revision list, its operating system image,
and the relevant profile items, such as the location of the target subvolumes on the
target system. It is created by a Build request and is included in the activation package
sent to the target system. A configuration revision name is composed of a system
name, a target name describing the configuration’s usage, and a software revision
number.
CONFTEXT file. The configuration file used as input to a system generation program that
contains a series of entries defining your operating system attributes. The CONFTEXT
file for G-series, H-series, and J-series RVUs consists of one or two paragraphs:
DEFINES (optional) and ALLPROCESSORS.
CSSnn. The subvolume that contains the files that handle I/O for the 3650/6100 family of
communications controllers. The portion of the subvolume name should be the same
as that of the associated SYSnn subvolume.
current revision. The set of software products and related configuration information
currently active on a target system.
CUSTFILE. An edit file included on every RVU as $SYSTEM.Annnnnn.CUSTFILE, where
nnnnnn
is the system serial number of the target system. The CUSTFILE contains
information on the software products on the SUT, their related files, and the destination
and use of each file. HP customizes information in the CUSTFILE for each customer’s
system.
declaration files. See
decompression. The process of expanding files to their original size and format.
