HP NonStop™ Transaction Management Facility

(TMF)

HP NonStop™ Transaction Management Facility (TMF). HP software that provides

transaction protection and database consistency in demanding online transaction
processing (OLTP) and decision-support environments. It gives full protection to
transactions that access distributed SQL/MP and Enscribe databases, as well as
recovery capabilities for transactions, online disk volumes, and entire databases.

INITENV. The DSM/SCM installation and initialization master program that performs many

of the tasks related to installing and initializing software needed to run DSM/SCM.

initialization. The process of defining a new DSM/SCM system, including giving it a name,

setting up default values used when processing requests, and creating the first
software revision (list of products) for the system.

initial software revision. The software revision on a target system when it is first brought

into the DSM/SCM environment. The DSM/SCM host database must be initialized with
information about the initial software revision. The initial software revision is then used
as a baseline upon which new software revisions are based.

.

IP address. An internet protocol (IP) address. An IP address consists of two parts: a

network address, which identifies the network, and a local address, which identifies a
host within a network. A network address is concatenated to a host address to form the
IP address and uniquely identify a host within a network. IP routes data between
source and destination IP addresses.

IPM (interim product modification). See

software product revision (SPR)

.

IPM6030/6031. For DSM/SCM D30 and later, STARTSCM runs these macros automatically

as needed.

.

master. A system designated as the primary system in a Clone Group. The Master is the

logical target to which all software configuration tasks for its Group are primarily
performed, with those tasks automatically carried out against the Clones in the Group
as well.

microcode. Software that is resident in nonvolatile memory, such as ROMs or EEPROMs.

migration. The process of moving from one RVU to another, such as from G05.00 to

G06.06.

migtacl0. A TACL macro that can be used to avert or correct certain problems that arise if a

G05.00 or later software input is received into DSM/SCM before DSM/SCM has been
upgraded to the D30 or later product version.
